Several canceled plans led to this one. It stuck and it was all we needed. I need the ocean air from time to time. Not like I was born with it. But it’s something that calms me down when the nerves get too tangled.
So a lazy Saturday morning followed a long drive to Carmel. The traffic was bad and it took us two and a half hours. First stop – Basil Italian. A place we have come to love for it has everything for everyone. Gluten free pasta, and desserts, bread pudding for the parents and a relaxing vibe.
We checked in at our humble abode for the weekend – Green Lantern Inn, and walked to the beach with our toys and chairs and flip flops. Yep, that’s how gorgeous the weather was on Saturday.
So we spent the entire afternoon on the beach and enjoyed our first sunset of 2022!
Dinner was at TreeHouse Cafe, anther favorite of the fam. We have been coming back to this place for seven years and it never disappoints.
Sunday morning breakfast at the inn was followed by a short drive to Garapata State Park. We hiked the Sobranes Trail and built up a decent appetite to enjoy a delicious meal at the Pacific’s Edge in Carmel Highlands. The view is better than Nepenthe and the food too. Steep prices, but you pay for the view.
Wine in the afternoon put me to sleep so we came back to the hotel and slept 🙂 In the evening we did some window shopping and bought butterscotch sauce and balsamic vinegar mixed with sour cherries at Olivier. Dinner was back at Treehouse again. I love that place and their menu is so diverse and kid friendly.
In the morning I challenged Agam and Tara to a morning walk around downtown and some GF pancakes and Benedicts. We ate to our heart’s content with the promise of a morning walk at the beach. The weather was surprisingly sunny. But the chill was definitely there. We spent hours at the beach and didn’t even realize it was time to check out. So we ran back, packed up and drive home.
A short, wine full, delightful weekend 🙂
