The empty chair

I miss you when I see the empty chair. Never will I sit opposite to my Mom in a restaurant or at the dining table. Coz every time I look across at her, I look to her left and right, hoping to find you there. The empty chair next to her reminds me of you. It reminds me of your absence. It reminds me of all the fun times we have had as a family. It reminds me of her loneliness. It reminds me of my innocence. It reminds me of the day Stuti called me to tell me you are no more. It reminds me of all the things that I have imagined you going through as you took your last breathe.

I know you are not there
But I don’t want to be reminded of it, by an empty chair
